I don’t know what kind of cause I should be choosing but I’m gonna talk about something that’s been important to me for a really long time. I have been obsessed with pitbulls for forever and it doesn’t seem like it’s a cause. People tell me I shouldn’t care about it that much because there’s more important things but this just means so much to much. I love all animals but pitbulls have a special place in my heart because of their smiles. And I have seen so many videos and heard so many things about how they’re getting abused and pushed away because they look “scary”.
I wish I could be more involved in making people realize they are not killers and monsters, but being a busy college student I don’t have time. But I am so happy that there are people out there that put in a ton of effort to help out pitbulls and make their lives better. I follow a group called pittie nation that are really involved in letting people know they’re not violent and also helping the dogs. I want to do more because there are so many pitbulls out there and they are being used for dog fighting and as bait dogs it’s horrifying.
I have once in my life helped and broken out of my social awkward shell to help pitbulls. My senior year of high school up in Canada I believe ( I can’t quite remember because I have a poor memory) that they were going to start euthanizing pitbulls when they came to shelters without letting them even have a chance at finding a home. And it broke my heart so much and there was a petition going around to stop it from happening and I signed it. But I also stood up in my choir class, balling like a baby, and asked my classmates to sign it. A couple days later I found out that the petition worked and it wasn’t going to be happening and that’s when I felt pure happiness and cried, once again, but happy tears this time.
